PURPOSE: To obtain picture display improved by filling the space between the display window of a cathod-ray tube(CRT) and a flat plate arranged in front of the display window through a holder with liquid or gel to improve contrast and flate an image. ;CONSTITUTION: The holder 15 is arranged in front of the display window 3 of the CRT 1. The flat plate 16 is attached to the front surface of the holder 15. The space between the display window 3 and the plate 16 is filled with liquid or gel 17. The refractive index of the liquid 17 almost corresponds to the refractive indexes of the window 3 and the plate 16. Gel to be liquidized at temperature ≤160°C is used for the gel 17. Generally the CRT 1 is heated up to the vicinity of 160°C without substantially increasing a risk of implosion.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
