Diagnosis and monitoring of colon cancer patients by measurement of NCA50 / 90 in the blood

PURPOSE: To assist disgnosis of colon cancer of a patient by using an index for such cancer consisting of existence of a level at which the nonpeculiar crossing reaction antigen(NCA) 50/90 in his blood has increased significantly. ;CONSTITUTION: An antigen NCA 50/90 increases significantly in the blood of a patient suffering from colon cancer. The NCA 50/90 content of a blood specimen sampled from any person exhibiting an indication of colon cancer is measured and compared with the mean of NCA 50/90 in the normal population. Existence of the quantity level at which the NCA 50/90 content of the blood has increased significantly, is used as the index for colon cancer having propagated in the patient. This serves diagnosis of a patient exhibiting an indication of colon cancer, and a doctor uses it in diagnosis along with other information implying his suffering from colon cancer. An increment of blood NCA 50/90 level for a certain period shows usually a situation of worsening, while a sink shows situation that the decease situation has improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
