PURPOSE:To suppress industrial waste and to assure execution of work with high reliability and safety at a reduced cost by diverting and effectively utilizing back-filling materials obtd. from surplus soil of excavation discharged in a shielding work having various advantages as aggregate to and for recycling. CONSTITUTION:Potassium silicate having a molar ratio in a range of 1.0 to 4.0 is mixed with sodium silicate having likewise a molar ratio in a range of 1.0 to 4.0 at a mixing ratio in a range from 1 to 50% by volume to prepare a rapid hardener as the back-filling material at the time of executing the shielding work to be executed to excavate a tunnel. As a result, the control of the gel time as designed is possible and there is no need for adjusting the length of a feed hose from mixing to the back-filling part. Sure solidification is executed, the discharge amt. of the industrial waste is suppressed and the safety of the execution of the work is assured without being affected by a temp. change and even if the nature of the ground and the moisture content ratio vary. Further, the cost is reduced without degrading the environment.
