PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a program for processing numerical map data useful for laying construction of sewerage or drainage, etc., and river flooding forecast, etc., by obtaining altitude data based on actual topographic features, and to provide a recording medium with the processing program stored therein.;SOLUTION: By comparing altitude data of a first and a second mesh adjacent to each other along X-coordinate, whether the altitude data of the second mesh are equal to or smaller than or larger than the altitude data of the first mesh is judged. When the altitude data of the second mesh are smaller (larger) than the altitude data of the first mesh, the first (the second) mesh is selected as a reference mesh and the altitude data of the reference mesh are set as reference altitude data on the reference mesh.
