PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuous heat treatment of a porous carbon fiber sheet having excellent performance, apperance and handleability, by which troubles in a process can be prevented while improving especially productivity and excellent process passage is secured, and a heat treatment apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: A porous carbon fiber sheet precursor into which a resin is impregnated and cured and which is continuously supplied is preliminarily carbonized in an auxiliary carbonization heat treatment apparatus and continuously carbonized by a carbonization heat treatment apparatus in an inert atmosphere at =800 deg.C and =3,000 deg.C. The auxiliary carbonization heat treatment is preferably carried out in an inert atmosphere at =200 deg.C and =1,000 deg.C.
