PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a method for diagnosing and curing diseases caused by a molecule having a plexin domain which has possibility of corresponding to the induction of axon of a nerve cell, the growth of the heart and the skeleton, an immune reaction, angioplasty, and the growth and metastasis of cancer by identifying the molecule having the plexin domain. SOLUTION: This DNA including a base sequence encoding the following protein (a) or (b): (a) the protein comprising the same or substantially same amino acid sequence as the amino acid sequence of a specific polypeptide derived from the human being; or (b) the protein comprising the amino acid sequence having deletion, substitution or insertion of a part of amino acids in the above amino acid sequence, and having the substantially same biological activities as a bound MEGF8 or a secretory MEGF8. The recombinant protein encoded by the DNA is also provided.
