PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MPOA(Multi-Protocol Over ATM) system that has compatibility with communication units adopting a conventional MPOA and properly avoids a domino effect without bringing a flow being an object of a short cut to the outside of the short cut and to provide its short-cut communication control method, and a short-cut communication control program. ;SOLUTION: The MPOA system where a layer 3 protocol is used on an ATM network to make communication, is characterized in that each communication node attaches data of a layer 3 address of a sender of a data packet to an address resolution request packet transmitted to open a short-cut VCC(Virtual Channel Connection) to a destination of the data packet and transmits the resulting data packet and opens the short-cut VCC only between the destination and a communication node remotest on the network from the destination when receiving the address resolution request packet transmitted to open the short-cut VCC to the destination of the data packet on the same communication from a plurality of communication nodes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
