PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plurality of different security mechanisms in a clustered data processing environment, and to interact with the mechanism.;SOLUTION: The above task is solved by setting up a mechanism abstraction layer that provides an interface consistent with applications executed at various nodes in a cluster. A mechanism pluggable module for each security mechanism that a user desires to use is set up. The pluggable module provides a mechanism for mapping individual security mechanism parameter through the interface with the mechanism abstraction layer. The mechanism provides an interface consistent with the application executed at the node, and the interface avoids expensive adaptation or modification in a conventional security mechanism necessary for making a new security mechanism adapt.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
