The method is for dynamically verifying a multi-lobe aerial placed on a marine vessel (F) and involves a device for determining the position and course of the vessel. A transmission device transmits pulsed signals via the aerial. At least two transponders (A,B,C,D) are placed around a measurement area, each of which receives a pulsed signal from the aerial of at least one frequency, different for each transponder. After receiving this signal, the transponders transmit a corresponding pulsed signal to the measurement station in such a manner that the measurement station (M) can determine from which transponder the respective received signal came. At the measurement station an evaluation is made as to how well the aerial has managed to direct the radiated energy in the required directions.
