A method of forming and partially classifying a precipitate containing large particles, coarse particles and fine particles from a dense mother supersaturated precipitation, comprising separating the dense mother precipitation slurry in a plurality of separate streams, introducing aqueous suspension simultaneously and separately each stream as a feed dense slurry in a vessel in which there is a lower agitated zone and an upper zone of rest to form said precipitate, continuously removing aqueous suspension dense product as a drain flow down from the agitated lower zone of each vessel, and continuously removing spent liquor as an overhead flow over from said upper rest, wherein said feed dense slurry, said flow of drain below and said overhead flow above are maintained so that such large particles and grues as accumulate as a dense slurry in the lower agitated zone of each vessel and only said fine particles exit said vessel with said flow of flow over after migrating through said quiescent zone.
