A controlled release tablet obtainable by: (a) melt granulation of betahistine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof with at least one fatty compound; (b) mixing the granulate of step (a) with at least one hydrophilic polymer capable of adsorbing water and with suitable excipients, and (c) compressing the mixture of step (b).
