PLEUROTUS EXTRACT AND USE IN TREATING HYPERTENSION

The invention provides an extract of the Pleurotus genus such as Pleurotuseryngii(DC. et Fr) Quél to prevent and treat hypertension, and enhance cardiovascularhealth.Further, the invention provides pharmaceutical compositions containing theextract as anactive ingredient, in a pharmaceutically or therapeutically acceptablecarrier. The inventionalso provides a method of preventing and treating hypertension byadministration of theextract. Further, there is provided a method for preparing the extract andevaluating theextract using in vitro or in vivo tests to ensure antihypertensive activity.
