A method for controlling the feedback in a closed loop transmission diversity that transmits feedback information representative of amplitude and phase control amounts from a mobile station to a radio base station. A mobile station receives, during a handover control, a downstream pilot signal transmitted from a new base station; calculates in advance, based on the received pilot signal, feedback information representative of amplitude and phase control amounts to be transmitted to the new base station; and then transmits this feedback information to the new base station before the switching to the new base station is completed by the handover.
