PURPOSE: A variable region of the monoclonal antibody recognizing an S-surface antigen of hepatitis B virus and a gene encoding the same are provided, therefore hepatitis can be effectively treated. CONSTITUTION: The cDNA gene which encodes light chain variable region of the monoclonal antibody recognizing an S-surface antigen of hepatitis B virus contains polypeptides having the nucleotide sequences represented by SEQ ID NOs: 9, 10 and 11, respectively, in which the amino acid sequence of the light chain variable region is represented by SEQ ID NO: 7; and the cDNA gene may further contain the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5. The cDNA gene which encodes heavy chain variable region of the monoclonal antibody recognizing an S-surface antigen of hepatitis B virus contains polypeptides having the nucleotide sequences represented by SEQ ID NOs: 12, 13 and 14, respectively, in which the amino acid sequence of the heavy chain variable region is represented by SEQ ID NO: 8; and the cDNA gene may further contain the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 6. The recombinant vector pCRC6Lv contains the cDNA gene which encodes light chain variable region of the monoclonal antibody recognizing an S-surface antigen of hepatitis B virus. The recombinant vector pCRC6Hv contains cDNA gene which encodes heavy chain variable region of the monoclonal antibody recognizing an S-surface antigen of hepatitis B virus. A transformant E. coli DH5/pCRC6Lv(KCTC 18093P) is produced by transforming with pCRC6Lv. A transformant E. coli DH5/pCRC6Hv (KCTC 18092P) is produced by transforming with pCRC6Hv.
