PURPOSE: A method for controlling a routing to an IP(Intelligent Peripheral) in a subscriber-based ringback tone service is provided to prevent a service impossible state by efficiently using a trunk resource connected from an MSC(Mobile Switching Center) and the IP. CONSTITUTION: If a callee is a service subscriber and is in a service active state, a termination MSC(32) requests an ISUP(Integrated Services Digital Network User Part) call connection to a corresponding IP among a plurality of IPs(50) on the basis of a previously stored routing number as routing information, configures a mutual channel, and provides a termination telephone number and an origination telephone number(S510). The IP(50) requests a sound source code to a IP server(70) on the basis of the termination telephone number and the origination telephone number(S511). The IP server(70) searches a sound source code connected to the termination and origination telephone numbers according to the request, and transmits the searched sound source code to the IP(50)(S512). The IP(50) transmits a substitution sound corresponding to the received sound source as a ringback tone to a caller through the configured channel(S513). If the termination subscriber recognizes the substitution sound while the substitution sound is transmitted as the ringback tone, the termination MSC(32) requests an ISUP call release to the IP(5) so that a trunk call configured with the IP(50) is released(S514).
