PURPOSE: A copper electrode-based electrochemical sensor, method for measurement of chemical oxygen demand using the same and automatic analyzer system thereof is provided to shorten measurement time and improve accuracy of measurement by oxidizing organic substances at a low oxidation potential and measuring current generated from the oxidation. CONSTITUTION: An electrochemical sensor comprises an operating electrode(1), a relative electrode(2) and a reference electrode(3), wherein the operating electrode is a copper electrode. The reference electrode is a silver/silver chloride electrode, and the relative electrode is a platinum electrode. A method for measurement of chemical oxygen demand, comprises the steps of making a calibration line by measuring oxidation current in proportion to the chemical oxygen demand with respect to the standard solution; and measuring oxidation current with respect to a sample and applying the oxidation current to the calibration line.
