PURPOSE: A structure for protecting a flying slider from contamination is provided to protect a magnetic or optical head attached to a head slider having a low small flying height from contaminants. CONSTITUTION: A flying head slider includes an optical/magnetic head, a flying slider(30) on which the optical/magnetic head is mounted, and a suspension for supporting the slider. The flying slider has a leading edge(31) and a trailing edge(32) and an air bearing for forming a desired flying height. The surface for the air bearing is formed under the slider. The optical/magnetic head is attached to the trailing edge. A conic slope is formed at the leading edge of the flying slider to make particles removed along the leading edge. The leading edge is formed at a taper angle tilted in the vertical direction.
