-1 NOVEL LACTOBACILLUS SP. EWP-1 STRAIN REDUCING SERUM CHOLESTEROL AND EGG YOLK CHOLESTEROL IN HEN

PURPOSE: A Lactobacillus sp. EWP-1 strain reducing serum cholesterol and egg yolk cholesterol in a hen is provided, thereby producing eggs having low cholesterol level. CONSTITUTION: Lactobacillus sp. EWP-1 (KFCC 11290) having bile acid decomposing activity is isolated from the feces of a hen. A method for reducing the serum cholesterol and egg yolk cholesterol in a hen comprises culturing Lactobacillus sp. EWP-1 (KFCC 11290) and transferring the cultured Lactobacillus sp. EWP-1 (KFCC 11290) to the intestine of the hen. The cultured Lactobacillus sp. EWP-1 (KFCC 11290) may be added into a feed for the hen.
