Investigation of mechanism of cassia obtusifolia reducing serum cholesterol

AIM:To investigate mechanism of cassia o btusifolia reducing choles-terol.METHODS:Liver cell of the rats were cultured i n vitro. 14 C-cholesterol synthesized in liver cells were measured with Lowry method and scintillation counting apparatus.RESULTS:Extract of cassia obtusifolia can inhibit synthesis of 14 C-cholesterol but Cassiaside B didn’ t affect cholesterol synthesis.CONCLUSION:One of the mechanism of cassia ob-tusifolia reducing blood cholesterol is inhibiting synthesis of cholesterol to some extent,while cassiaside B reducing cholesterol is not by inhibitin g synthesis of cholesterol.
