PURPOSE: An Internet phone gateway device connected to a PBX(Private Branch Exchange) for an Internet phone service is provided to simplify a construction of a gateway by utilizing a personal computer as an Internet access unit and an Internet phone protocol processor. CONSTITUTION: A subscriber line interface unit(31) and a voice compression codec unit(32) respectively have a general phone connection function and convert a PCM voice data into a compressed digital data. A connection controller(33) transmits an output of the voice compression codec unit(32) to a personal computer(35), a voice data received from the personal computer(35) to the voice compression codec unit(32), routes a data to the voice compression codec unit(32), transmits a hook-off of a phone and a DTMF control signal to the personal computer(35), and controls the subscriber line interface unit(31). The personal computer(35) processes an Internet phone protocol, serves to transmit a compressed voice data as a real time transmission protocol through the Internet, and downloads a software from the Internet to enhance a function and a performance of a gateway. A memory unit(34) stores a program.
