PURPOSE: Provided is a manufacturing method of clay blocks coated with a glaze in thick thickness(1-8mm) enabling pattern-forming unlike conventional glaze thickness. Accordingly, the resultant clay blocks have diverse designs, beautiful surface and good surface strength. CONSTITUTION: The glaze composition for clay blocks contains 10-90wt.% of clay material with a size less than 150mesh, and 10-90wt.% of stone material with a size less than 30mesh as main materials, at least one compound selected from 0.4-1wt.% of methyl cellulose and 1-10wt.% of trisodium phosphate(anhydrous), and optionally a melting agent such as red lead and/or frit, so as to make moisture content of 35-40wt.%, wherein the clay material is one or more of red clay, white clay and kaolin, the stone material is one or more of feldspar, silica, agalmatolite and alumina. The manufacturing method of clay blocks comprises the steps of: mixing raw materials of clay blocks; extruding the mixture to an effective shape; coating the surface of blocks with the prepared glaze to be a 1-8mm thickness enabling it to form patterns; cutting the patterned blocks to a proper size; drying; sintering at 1180-1250deg.C and 1100-1800deg.C in case that the clay blocks are coated with the glaze composed of clay material, stone material and methyl cellulose, and the above composition, respectively.
