PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for displaying kinds of disks in a multi-disk changer are provided to discriminate kinds of disks and obtain disk information without opening disk holders. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(200) controls all units of a disk driving device. An optical pickup driving unit(210) drives an optical pickup. The optical pickup is driven by the optical pickup driving unit. A digital signal processing unit(230) demodulates a predetermined signal read from the optical pickup. A memory(240) stores predetermined information. An audio processing unit(250) outputs predetermined audio data to a speaker. A display unit(260) provides disk information to a user. A plurality of disk holders(271-274) are provided for securing disks. A roulette(270) includes the plurality of disk holders. The disk driving device drives the optical pickup to search TOC(Table Of Contents) information of all disks inserted into the disk holders. Kinds of the disks retrieved from the TOC information are stored in the memory, matching with disk holder numbers. The disk information of the disk holders are displayed to the user at the same time.
