PURPOSE: Provided are an extract and fractions of Dendropanax morbifera H Lev having liver protection effect and a pharmaceutical composition containing them, thereby preventing and treating liver diseases, such as fatty liver, hepatitis, hepatocirrhosis and the like. CONSTITUTION: An extract of Dendropanax morbifera H Lev is obtained by extracting Dendropanax morbifera H Lev resin with an alcohol solvent at 50-100 deg.C for 5-24 hours, followed by cooling, filtration and concentration. The extract is fractioned with solvents, particularly, hexane, chloroform, butanol, and water sequentially.
