The brake disc has friction faces (10) and a stress indicator (12) provided at at least one accessible surface thereof so that the driver or service engineer can visually check on the changes to the brake disc caused through temperature effects etc. The stress indicator can be arranged in the friction surface between an outer ring restriction (5) and inner ring restriction (6).
