Device for illumination of the biological lens in the human eye comprises an optical fiber with one end connected to a light source and the other connected to a hand piece so that the end through which the light comes out can be brought close to the lens. The individual components of the phaco-illuminator, i.e. light source, optical fiber and hand piece can be flexibly or rigidly connected.
