The process involves positioning an intraocular lens (6) in a longitudinal passage (2) of a case (1). The lens is transferred in an injection cartridge (8) by translation in the passage and in the inner surface of one of blades of the cartridge, and maintained in the base of the cartridge, at the beginning of the removal of the case and the closing of the cartridge involving folding or compaction of the lens. The case (1) has a front open end to position one of the blades of the injection cartridge (8) in the plane of the sliding surface (3) of the passage, where the cartridge is maintained in an open position.
