In producing self-supporting nickel foil by deposition on a cathode roller that dips into an electroplating bath and rotates inside an anode cage, then removing the foil, a standard nickel sulfamate bath is used with additives causing crystalline growth with lamellar structure, comprising 1-3 mg/l citric acid, 0.1-1 g/l saccharin and 1-5 mg/l phenolsulfonic acid.
