Preparation of an active component (I) of a therapeutic or diagnostic agent by: (i) infecting Mandine-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells with a virus; and (ii) culturing the cells in suspension culture on a large scale (i.e. culture volume at least 30 l), so that viral replication occurs. An Independent claim is also included for preparation of a therapeutic or diagnostic composition by formulating (I) prepared by the new method with adjuvants, auxiliaries, buffers, diluents or carriers.
