The method involves transmitting data from one circuit (1) operated at a first clock (CLK1), to another circuit (2) operating at a second clock (CLK2). The data are read into a buffer (4) by the first circuit at the first clock, and read out at the second clock by the first circuit. The phase of the first clock is compared with that of the second clock, and the phase of both clocks is altered according to the comparison result so that they are in phase. The data stored in the buffer are then read out at the second clock. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for synchronizing data transmission.
