The transparent, refractive device has a light input surface in a vertical main input plane, a light output surface in a main output plane and a curved surface in the vertical and horizontal directions at a defined curvature angle and forming a lateral surface (2). The curvature is such that most of the light beam coupled into the input surface is deflected in a horizontal angular range of at least 30 to 90 degrees and below a light/dark boundary.
