The valve body (16) has a cylindrical portion sliding inside a cylinder in a housing (10) and has a conical end with a spike (17). When the valve is closed, the spike extends into a nozzle channel (13) of greater diameter. The valve is opened by compressed air (14) which is admitted to the space (18) under an actuator piston which is spring-loaded (19) toward the valve closed position. When the valve is open, a space (11) is formed in front of the cone and the inlet of the polishing fluid (20) is uncovered, and the fluid flows through the nozzle. The fluid spray is flattened to a fan shape by two jets of compressed air (15) set at an angle to the fluid jet.
