The instrument (1) is designed like a pair of scissors with two crosswise arranged branches (16, 17) provided with cutting blades (18, 19) or gripping areas at one end and ring-shaped handles (22, 23) located at the opposite end. A bridge (32, 40) leading from each of the rings (22, 23) to the shafts (34) of the branches and forming a triangular opening (36) beside the normal finger insertion space, facilitates the use of the tool (1) with the fingers held in a different position resulting also in a changed direction of the forces acting on the area to be processed. The handle area (24) can also be produced in slightly different designs according to the use and the individual preference.
