The invention relates to an improved method for allergy diagnostics, particularly for food allergy diagnostics, characterized in that IgE antibodies obtained from an individual are exposed to an agent that renders the IgE antibodies substantially incapable of reacting with a saccharidic epitope of an antigen of said antigenic material; and/or to a protease-digested portion of said antigenic material; and to a native, i.e., non-digested portion of said antigenic material; whereupon the formation of IgE/antigen-complexes is detected and evaluated with regard to the determination of unreacted antigens and/or of clinically relevant IgE/antigen complexes in which the IgE antibody is bound to an essentially peptidic epitope of an antigen. The present invention also relates to a diagnostic kit for use in one or more of the aforementioned methods, particularly for food allergy diagnostics in vitro or in vivo And to a method for determining an allergic response of an individual to an orally or nasally ingestible antigenic material by means of an improved skin test.
