Hair cosmetic composition comprises xanthan gum as a fixing agent. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for preparing the above composition, comprising dispersing the xanthan gum in water and mixing it with other hair cosmetic ingredients; (2) methods for imparting fixing properties to the hair and for imparting curl retention under high humidity conditions, comprising applying the above composition.
