The container and applicator (1) has a rigid body (2) open at the top (20) for a stick product (6) that is propelled by a piston (3) and a screw (4) when its base is rotated. The stick has a lengthwise inner hole (60) to receive the screw, and is fitted to the piston by means of a support (7) with upper surface projections in a dovetail shape to engage with the stick and hooks on the underside to anchor the support to apertures (30) in the piston. The components of the container/applicator are made from plastic materials, typically by injection moulding.
