PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load being applied to a motor when wiping is performed.;SOLUTION: The liquid ejector for ejecting liquid toward a target comprises a liquid ejection head having nozzles for ejecting liquid, a carriage mounting the liquid ejection head and reciprocating in the scanning direction substantially perpendicular to the feeding direction of the target, a wiper for wiping off the liquid while abutting against the nozzle forming face of the liquid ejection head, and a drive section for driving the carriage such that at least the first time moving speed of the carriage becomes lower than the moving speed of the carriage at second and subsequent times.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
