PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inhibiting the growth of the roots of a tree especially artificially planted as a street tree in an urban area in the protruding direction, by which the protrusion of the tree roots on the ground surface is inhibited without inhibiting the growth of the tree roots in the lateral direction, thereby suitably preventing that the tree roots lift concrete blocks, or the like, in the pavement portion of a street, and to produce a tree root-repelling sheet used for the method.;SOLUTION: The method for inhibiting the growth of the roots of the tree is characterized by at least horizontally disposing the tree root-repelling sheet prepared by applying a tree root protrusion-inhibiting repellent to a sheet having many penetrated holes having a hole diameter of 0.3 to 10 mm, on the upper side of the tree roots in the root portion of the tree.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
