PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a graft copolymer for affording a thermoplastic resin having excellent glossiness and impact resistance by controlling the particle diameter of a rubbery polymer with good productivity and to provide a thermoplastic resin composition using the copolymer.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the graft copolymer comprises polymerizing a monomer containing an acrylic ester having a 1-8C alkyl group, producing the rubbery polymer and then copolymerizing an aromatic vinylic monomer and a vinyl cyanide-based monomer.
