PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology capable of automatically controlling the output power of an optical unit well when it is used as a light source of VCSEL or the like.;SOLUTION: The optical unit is composed of a light source (10) emitting light of certain intensity corresponding to input signals, a diffraction grating (12) which is arranged in the optical path of the light source (10) to reflect light emitted from the light source (10) partially, and a photodetector (14) which receives light reflected from the diffraction grating (12) and outputs electrical signals corresponding to the intensity of the reflected light. A light source control device is composed of the optical unit and a control means (24) which controls the intensity of light emitted from the light source (10) on the basis of electrical signals outputted from the photodetector (14).
