PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relative position information correcting apparatus capable of correctly displaying a desired spot by absorbing a shift of relative positions between different digital map data bases, a method for correcting relative position information and a program for correcting relative position information.;SOLUTION: The relative position information correcting apparatus comprises a transmission device 100a for transmitting to a receiving side device 200a event information such as an accident, a traffic jam prepared on the basis of a digital map data base 101 and the receiving side device 200a which displays a spot of the event on a map displayed by a digital map data base 207 on the basis of the event information transmitted from the device 100a and makes a correction to the position of the spot when the spot of the event is displayed. The transmission side device 100 calculates a total length of a road section and transmits shape vector indicating information including the total length. The receiving side device 200a corrects the relative position of the spot of the event by calculating a total length of the road section and using the two lengths of the road section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
