PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a sufficient capacity of an oil storing chamber while avoiding downward and backward projection of a crankcase, in an engine for a motorcycle and a motor tricycle, in which a crank chamber housing large part of a crank shaft and the oil storing chamber arranged in the backward side of the crank shaft are partitioned each other and formed inside the crankcase, and a return pump for returning oil in the crank chamber side to the oil storing chamber side is mounted in the crankcase. PSOLUTION: The return pump 127 is mounted in the forward of the crank shaft 12 and on the lower part of the crankcase 14, and a return pipe 145 for guiding oil discharged from the return pump 127 to the oil storing chamber 125 side is arranged below the crank shaft 12 inside the crank chamber 124.
