To provide a die for working with a lead frame capable of stable wire-bonding with an inner lead and resulting in the improved reliability of electrical connection to a wire. SOLUTION: A die 21 is used to bend a lead frame comprising an inner lead provided with a metal plating layer and an outer lead connected to the inner lead. It comprises metal members 14 and 10 to bend the prescribed section between the inner lead and the outer lead into steps. The prescribed section of a surface of the metal members 14 and 10 which contacts the metal plating layer is roughened.
