PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and quickly remove selenium in waste water from the waste water by adding a reducing agent and neutralizer to the water to react while making the waste water containing selenium flow through plural reaction chambers. ;SOLUTION: An industrial waste water containing selenium is introduced to a first reaction chamber 1 and stirred by a stirrer, into which a ferrous salt such as iron (II) sulfate as a reducing agent and a neutralizer such as sodium hydroxide to control pH of the waste water to about 8 to 10 are added to react to remove selenium as the coprecipitate with iron from the waste water. The liquid which overflows from the first reaction chamber is introduced to second and third reaction chambers 3, 5 where the water is processed in the same way as in the first chamber. Namely, a reducing agent and a neutralizer are added to produce coprecipitate of the residual selenium with iron, which is removed.
