PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst which can give highly streoregular polyolefins having a high bulk density and improved quality in high activity an productivity without forming polymer deposit on the inside wall of a reactor by combining an organo-transition-metal compound with a specified carrier. ;SOLUTION: This catalyst comprises an organo-transition-metal compound such as a metallocene compound soluble in an inert organic solvent being a 1-20 C alkane, a 6-20 C aromatic hydrocarbon compound, a 2-20 C ether of a 1-20 C halohydrocarbon and a carrier being inert to an inert organic solvent and produced by bringing at least one organoaluminumoxy compound selected from among compounds represented by formulas II and III (wherein R5 is a 1-6 C alkyl, a 6-18 C aryl or H; and (q) is 2-50) into contact with a carbonyl- containing organic polymer represented by formula I (wherein Q is H, hydroxyl, an alkyl, an aryl, an alkoxyl, an aryloxy, oxycarbonly, a halogen, amino, aminocarbonyl, hydrazino or an oxy anion).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
