In the present invention, there is disclosed a process for reshaping cane bodies with compensation of a forming tool, which process is characterized by forming a cup (N) to obtain a formed cane body (D) by axial movement of a ram (1) and a forming punch (2) along with said cup (N) through several forming rings (10a, 10b, 10c) that are axially aligned one after another with the central axis of both said ram (1) and punch (2), whereby a controlled change in temperature by heating or cooling at least one of the forming tools such as the ran (1), the forming punch (2) and/or said forming rings (10a, 10b, 10c) in order to achieve change of at least one of the forming tools relative to occurred wear and a possibility to long-term use of the tool for reshaping the can bodies. The forming tool with the ram (1) or the forming punch (2) and with at least one forming ring (10a, 10b, 10c) for carrying out the invented process has at least one of said forming rings (10a, 10b, 10c) forcibly cooled or heated by means of an electrically controlled device and temperature of the ram (1) of the forming tool or front forming part (2) thereof is controllable variable from inside (4, 5, 8) or from outside (3, 5a, 6, 7a, 7b) in order to affect size of the tool without mechanical intervention.
