Device for removing slag of a metal melt from the base of a melting crucible, especially an immersion coating crucible, comprises a suction pipe (2) having a vertical tubular section (3) having a length which corresponds to the depth of the metal melt and a lower end (3a) formed as a suction opening and having a horizontal tubular section (5) as outlet opening, and a gas feed line (6) which opens into the suction pipe in its lower region (3b) for introducing a transport gas into the suction pipe. An Independent claim is also included for a process for removing slag of a metal melt from the base of a melting crucible, especially an immersion coating crucible using the above device.
