PURPOSE: The use of bismuth subgallate in prevention and/or reduction of skin aging is provided. The synergistic effect of bismuth subgallate is obtained by the combination of borneol, thereby preventing and reducing skin aging. CONSTITUTION: The method for prevention and reduction of skin damage contains the application of an effective amount of bismuth subgallate and borneol to prevent or reduce skin damage. The effective amount of bismuth subgallate and borneol is in the range of 0.03 to 40% by weight respectively. The skin damage is a state selected from aging, photodamage, bruises, pits, wrinkles, fine lines, flaccid textures, acne, boils, swellings, psoriasis, age spots, rough skin or dry skin.
