PURPOSE: A method for controlling a flash apparatus being performed a preparative light emitting by once is provided to perform a short and a long preparative light emitting through one preparative light emitting, thereby reducing power consumption of the flash apparatus and lengthening the life of the flash apparatus. CONSTITUTION: An image sensing unit(IS) including a CCD(Charge Coupled Device) or a CMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) converts incident light energy from an object(OB) into electric energy, so that an image signal in proportion to the flash intensity of a camera is generated. An image signal processing unit(SP) processes the image signal from the image sensing unit(IS), makes the processed signal input to a microcontroller(MC), and controls an operation of a timing signal generator(TG). The timing signal generator(TG) makes a read-out signal(RS) according to the timing control of the image signal processing unit(SP) input to the image sensing unit(IS) and the microcontroller(MC). The microcontroller(MC) discriminates an image signal(Yp) from the image signal processing unit(SP) according to the read-out signal(RS) from the timing signal generator(TG) and generates a signal(Scfl) for controlling an operation of a flash apparatus(TF). A light emitting driving unit(LDR) of the flash apparatus(TF) drives a light emitting device(LE) according to the control signal of the microcontroller(MC).
