PURPOSE: A tuned microcavity color OLED display is provided to allow for ease of manufactured and achieve improved quality of color and light emitting efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A tuned microcavity color OLED display(103a) comprises a pixel array divided into two different color pixel sets for emitting different color lights on a common substrate. Each of pixels of the pixel array includes a metal lower electrode layer(12T) formed on a substrate(10); a metal upper electrode layer(16R) spaced apart from the metal lower electrode layer; an organic electroluminescence element(14) interposed between the upper electrode layer and the lower electrode layer, such that the organic electroluminescence element generates light of wide band; and a transparent conductive phase layer(20) interposed between the metal lower electrode layer and the organic electroluminescence element. The organic electroluminescence element is common to all color pixels. The transparent conductive phase layer has a thickness selected to permit pixels in different color pixel sets to emit different color lights. One of the metal electrodes is semi-transparent, and the other of the metal electrodes is opaque and reflective. The reflective metal electrode layer is made of Ag, Au, Al or an alloy thereof. The semi-transparent metal electrode layer is made of Ag, Au or an alloy thereof. The thickness of the semi-transparent metal electrode layer, sum thickness of an organic layer and the transparent conductive phase layer, and the position of a light emitting layer are selected to form a tuned microcavity color OLED display having a light emitting efficiency higher than that of a comparable OLED display where each of pixels is not provided with microcavity.
