PURPOSE: A method for calculating fuel consumption of an automobile, and an apparatus for detecting exchange periods of lubricating oil and parts using the method are provided to accurately measure fuel consumption quantity regardless of the kind of an automobile, and exchange lubricating oil and parts in the optimum state. CONSTITUTION: A fuel consumption display unit(61) displays fuel consumption quantity of an automobile in figures by accumulatively calculating the fuel consumption quantity of the automobile. A progress display unit(62) displays exchange frequency of engine oil by a graphic lamp. A speaker(64) output exchange periods for lubricating oil and parts in a voice. A part exchange display lamp(63) flickers according to the exchange periods. An injector jet time selecting dial(31) is installed to be selected in the case that the fuel consumption quantity is calculated by using jet quantity per unit time of one injector. A protocol selecting dial(32) is installed to set up a protocol of the automobile in the case that the fuel consumption quantity is calculated by using jet time of one injector output in receiving and transmitting a communication protocol from and to electronic control units. A fuel consumption quantity per pulse selecting dial(33) is installed to set up the fuel consumption quantity per pulse in the case that the fuel consumption quantity is calculated by using a pulse output from a fuel consumption quantity terminal. A fuel consumption quantity limit selecting dial(34) sets up a limitation on the fuel consumption quantity corresponding to an exchange point of engine oil for deciding the exchange point of the engine oil every set fuel consumption quantity.
